International Nordic Walking Federation
The International Nordic Walking Federation (INWA) is the official worldwide federation promoting Nordic Walking. INWA was founded in 2000 in Finland, which is considered the “mother land of Nordic Walking”. Its main purpose is to develop Nordic Walking training internationally and to establish a global network for Nordic Walking instructors.
INWA is the only international organisation authorised by the creators of Nordic Walking to promote, develop and safeguard the principles and characteristics of Nordic Walking worldwide. In cooperation with professionals in sports, health and fitness, INWA develops innovative teaching methods and educational programs for Nordic Walking. INWA also collaborates with the scientific and medical communities. INWA has over 20 official member organisations and networks in over 40 countries.
INWA is also a member of The Association For International Sport for All (TAFISA).
INWA Vision Statement
INWA is the global governing federation for Nordic Walking, promoting, developing and safeguarding the principles, education and characteristics of Nordic Walking worldwide. INWA does this with a global approach in cooperation with its partners by providing professional services to its member associations in the fields of education, research, technology and practice. INWA does this based on its values which reflect INWA’s culture and long-term priorities.
