NWANA · A SPORT SHARED FOR LIFE
NORDIC WALKING — SPORT, SHARED FOR LIFE
We are athletes and the Nordic Walking Association of North America (NWANA). We built this site because we believe our sport should not exist only for competitions.
Nordic Walking can help people live better — with chronic conditions, after injury, with depression, in isolation, and in the search for movement, meaning, and community. This is supported by research, not just personal stories.
WHY SPORT
This is not “walking with poles” and not a simplified fitness trend. The strongest physical, functional, and psychological effects appear only when participants use correct NWANA sport technique.
Technique is the difference
Not just movement. Not just activity. But a structured sport — adapted to the person.
More than physical
For many people, Nordic Walking supports confidence, structure, social connection, and a way out of isolation and depression — alongside physical benefits.
WHO THIS SITE IS FOR
This site is built for people and organizations that work with people — across health, research, community, and public systems.
People
For anyone seeking a better life through a real sport, adapted to ability, condition, and context.
Hospitals & Rehabilitation
For clinical and rehabilitation settings seeking safe, repeatable delivery through trained staff.
Research & Academia
For institutions that require standardized technique and scalable implementation models.
Insurance & Public Programs
For systems looking for structured, instructor-based interventions integrated into existing frameworks.
Parks, Recreation & Fitness
For organizations integrating Nordic Walking by training leaders and instructors rather than buying programs.
We do not offer “ready-made programs”. We share a system you can integrate and run.
SPORT & COMPETITION
NWANA remains a sport federation. Competitive sport, rules, rankings, and events live on our main sport platform. This site expands the sport’s social and human mission.
